The "Gospel" or Good News

Cross

1.     God’s love includes everyone!

God loves each of us, whoever we are, whatever our circumstances.

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

The Lord is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to

repentance.  2 Peter 3:9

2.     Though tragically separated from God by sin, we can be saved through faith in Jesus.

Three steps to salvation:

We must admit that we have sinned.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23

Anyone who knows the good he ought to do & doesn’t do it, sins. James 4:17

We must realize that we cannot save ourselves.

It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by human achievement, so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

We must receive Jesus as our personal Savior and Lord.

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.  John 1:12

Receiving Jesus is more than holding an opinion about him or having an emotional experience.  Receiving Jesus means to invite him into your life, accepting his forgiveness, and turning your life over to his leadership.  Receiving Jesus and beginning a life relationship with Him is the catalyst for a faith journey that will last a lifetime. If you will offer this prayer with a sincere heart, you can trust God to honor your request.  He is eager to save you and enter into a relationship with you.

This simple prayer expresses such a desire:

Lord Jesus, I invite you into my life and accept your forgiveness of my sin.  Fill me with your Holy Spirit, and help me to become the person you want me to be.  Amen
