Servant Ministries

Hospitality Team Member

There are multiple opportunities to serve as a part of the hospitality team; from greeting, to handing out bulletins, even to doing whatever needs done before and after our worship services. All of our team members work together to make sure our guests are greeted warmly and feel welcomed and a part. We strive to make the first impression of Faith Church a lasting one. Within the first 15 minutes of entering the grounds, most guests make a decision whether they will return to a church - and it is very important to us that they are extraordinarily and excellently welcomed!

The time commitment is 1-1.5 hours on a scheduled week of the month. There are also special services and training events that happen throughout the year that we ask our team to serve and be present at.

Each person will be either individually trained or equipped during a large group training event.

Prayer Team Member

We have two prayer teams at Faith: a worship prayer team as well as an online prayer team. The primary commitment is to pray over specific needs, given to them via email or spreadsheet. The worship prayer team is at times requested to be available for one on one prayer during a worship experience.

The commitment includes complete confidentiality for all prayer requests made, as well as a commitment to actively pray for the needs presented. Time commitment varies and cannot be defined.

Training is provided where needed or desired.

Tabulating Teams

Be part of a team that serves by tabulating the weekly offerings at Faith. Teams normally serve seven Sundays per year (time commitment on those Sundays being 1 – 1.5 hours). As part of the team, you will count and verify tithes, offerings, and other monies given in the weekly offerings.  Qualities and skills needed for tabulating include basic math skills, attention to detail, ability to be a team member, and confidentiality.

Facilities

These servants perform minor repairs to the building, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting. You could also help maintain the outside grounds by cutting grass, pruning bushes/trees and removing leaves. Other opportunities could be to help set up and take down tables for Faith Café (ongoing), take recyclables to center, and minor cleaning around the facility.

Family Promise

Family Promis is a local organization that empowers families to become and remain self-sufficient by breaking the cycle of homelessness, providing community awareness and advocacy, and creating mission opportunities for individuals and faith-based organizations. Faith Church partners with Bethel United Methodist Church in Montoursville to host the families participating in the program for three to four weeks per year. During our host week, the families spend their days at the Family Promise Day Center, work, school, daycare, etc. In the late afternoon, a Family Promise van is driven from the host church to the Day Center to pick the families up. They are taken to the host church for dinner and to stay overnight. In the mornings, the families are returned to the Day Center. This routine is the same for the entire host week.

Servant opportunities include: setting up for the week and packing up at the end of the week, providing meals, acting as hosts for dinner and the evening, planning activities for the children and/or adults, overnight hosting, driving the Family Promise Van in the morning and afternoon, etc.

One Volunteer Training is required, and usually lasts approximately 2 hours.  The trainings are normally held once per month at the Family Promise Day Center.  If needed, trainings can be scheduled at Faith Church.

Administration

Our Administration at Faith Church also has opportunities to serve. They are:
Monthly Newsletter Servant – These duties include folding, sealing, and labeling 450-500 newsletters. This requires a time commitment of 3 hours one morning or afternoon per month. The servant will be shown how each step is executed and prepared for bulk mailing.

“Man the Desk” – This is simply answering the phone, taking care of door buzzer/intercom, greeting people who come in when our regular administrator is away. Time requirement differs, but it is usually no more than 4 hours at a time. The servant will be taught use of the phone system, door lock/intercom system and how to take a message for other members of the Leadership Team.

Bulk Mailing – From time to time Faith church may have a bulk mailing that requires stuffing, sealing and addressing envelopes of a count from 200-500.  The time requirement is usually 3-5 hours.  Servant will be shown how each step is executed and prepared for bulk mailing.

Friday Morning Fun - Every Friday morning from 9:15 a.m. - noon, a group is needed to help cut, color, organize, or whatever needs done to get ready for the Hands On Bible Club classes each weekend. This does not involve any childcare. Come and join this group - you'll have fun while you serve the Lord!
