We echo the core values and beliefs of Faith church (can be found here), while maintaining our own identity and commitment to our students. Our Values Real: We want to help students interact with the truths of the Bible in a real way that is meaningful to them and the world they live in. Relevant: When reaching a generation of people who's environment, core values, and way of communicating is always changing we need to be able to speak in a way that they understand and appreciate. While we will not change our message, the way we communicate it will. We also desire to show students that the truths of the Bible are relevant to their everyday lives and we want to teach them how to apply it to their lives today and for the rest of their days. Relational: Understanding that we were designed to have relationships with God and man, we seek to develop the life skills necessary to foster these relationships in a healthy way. In addition to developing these relationships we encourage Christian adults to come along side of students to help them develop as they get older. Different: As we encounter the truths of the Bible we seek to be changed by them. in doing so we hope to be different; more like Christ. We value that as individuals we will all bring something different to the group. Our Core Beliefs As a ministry we want to uphold the great commandment (a calling to Love God with all that we have) and the great commission (a calling to Love people and to reach out to them). If you define God as love then we want to show Love to all people and we want them to know who we are in Him. John 13:34-35 NASB “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." We want to love a hurting people and show them our heart that beats for our awesome Creator who Loves us more then we could ever imagine. - God loves everyone and calls everyone to salvation through his Son Jesus.
- Salvation is a gift of God’s grace through faith in Jesus.
- Growth in unselfish love and bringing others to Jesus is the goal of Christian living
Our Beliefs (More In Depth)
Biblical Truth: We believe the Bible is the accurate, inerrant, relevant Word of God to the world and that it has the power to bring grace and truth, transforming the lives of those it touches. Relationships: Before creation, God existed in relationship within the trinity; so we believe relationships matter to God. Therefore, we are called to a lifestyle that expresses God's value for people and relationships. Relevance: Eternal truths are relevant to today's world, and we believe these truths need to be applied in culturally-sensitive ways. We sometimes refer to this as "seeker sensitivity." Excellence: We strive to give our best and to be compelling in our teachings, our worship services, and our many ministries. We believe ministry in the Creator's name should reflect the Creator's touch. Unreached Peoples: Those ethnic groups throughout the world without viable churches in their cultures are called "unreached peoples." We believe we should make service to these peoples a priority. Community: God's chosen environment to accomplish His mission is "community." God has called us to reconcile people to Himself and to one another, moving beyond personal diversity into a celebration of unity. Our personal witness as a vital, growing community opens the way to reconciliation. Worship: A life of service is an act of worship. While corporate worship is a wonderful experience, our daily living is a continual act of worship, extending God's faithfulness to hundreds in homes, offices, factories, and schools throughout the Montoursville area. Reproduction: God intends to accomplish His ministry through the service of every member of His kingdom. We encourage lay-based, gift-driven ministry, empowering every recipient of grace to be an agent of His grace. Are you allowing God to touch others with His grace? |
